Recovering from Vacationing

We forgot to take our camera camping this past weekend.  We had lots of fun in wonderful weather that will have to stay in our memories.  K was feverish Saturday and Sunday which was definitely a damper on the weekend.  Thanks to Tylenol and Advil she did manage to have fun in between the medication wearing off.  She is still recuperating and not quite her normal energetic self.  Last night at bedtime L had a fever so I am keeping him well supplied with fever busters today.

WAG

Life is busy with everyday things, but every now and then we do something special.  We took some family time on Sunday to attend the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s (WAG) Family Sunday.  Right now they have the 100 Master’s Exhibit.  It was good, small compared to some of the other art galleries that Lowell and I have had the opportunity to visit, but long enough for L&K.  I haven’t had the privilege of enjoying Canadian art, especially the Group of Seven.  I really liked “Icebergs” by Lawren Harris.

L&K’s favourite part was the “make your own art” station.  We all spent some time playing with oil pastels.

Home Sweet Home

It is good to be home again.  The tour was good, but it was also exhausting.  I had this picture taken so that the kids could see what I was doing while I was talking to them on Skype.  (The BC Ferries have free wireless on them.)
We managed to get in a quick stop at Lake Louise.
This is a picture of us just before our last concert.  It was at a small Lutheran church in the middle of the country near Marchwell, Saskatchewan.  I was just about start our first piece when I was interrupted by the choir.  They gave me a nice bow tie.  I’ve been watching YouTube videos to learn how to tie bow ties.
I presented Pam and K with some flowers when I got home.  The stones in the vases were gathered from the beach in Victoria.

Tour Update

So I’m in Victoria while Pam is holding down the fort at home.  I’ve got more kids to look after, but they are lower maintenance…so far (crossing my fingers and knocking on wood).  It’s hard to believe that we are only approaching the halfway point on the tour.  Yesterday we sang at Union Gospel Mission’s Women’s Centre and the facility where they feed the homeless in Vancouver’s east side.  The day before we were in Abbotsford and the day before that we were in Kelowna.  We made a stop at the Mission Hill Estates and sang in their amphitheatre.  I also made sure to sample (and purchase) some wine.

New BBQ

We were needing a new grilling machine on our deck.  We had some credit card points to use and our neighbourhood Canadian Tire obliged us with a 50%-off sale.  I had some handy help assembling it.  Now if only summer would arrive so we could enjoy using it.

Easter (in the Snow)

Spring is somewhat shy this year, meaning that Easter was celebrated in the snow.  At least it wasn’t too cold.

Uncle D had the idea that a rope should be attached to the saucer and the uncles should try to spill the nephews.  Nephews were spilled, but not before making the uncles really tired.

L had lots of fun getting pulled by Grandpa L’s quad.

And K spent some time with Uncle M trying to overcome her fear of animals that are bigger than cats.

Yellow Belt

L had the opportunity to practice courage yesterday.  As his sensei has been saying, everyone is nervous before a test.  But that gives you the opportunity to be courageous.  L was nervous, but he overcame his fear and did really well on his test.  Here he is with his classmates preparing to do his kata.

Here he is demonstrating good form on his rising block.
