Recap 2015

We have been receiving “Christmas Letters” from various friends again this season.  Although we love these friends, distance and life have kept us apart throughout the year.  It has been great to have that brief catch up of your lives in the form of a letter.  You have inspired me to take up the massive challenge of  recapping the year for you.  We still have a blog from our days in Massachusetts, although infrequently used now, it still seemed like an appropriate mode of communication.

To quote Lowell; he works 3 full-time jobs for part-time pay.  This year he has taught courses at Booth University College and the University of Winnipeg, continues to be an assistant choir director at St Margaret’s Anglican Church and piano instructor for our children.  There are always cover letters for job applications to be written and with all of that he tries to squeeze in his own writing.  Great rejoicing happened this spring when Lowell’s paper was accepted for publishing, it had been a particularly hard paper to write.

Lowell’s previous success with apple wine has inspired him to further experimenting.  This year he used his homemade apple press on locally grown grapes.  There is a life lesson to be learned from wine making, sour grapes do not make sweet wine.

L (our firstborn to those of you not familiar with our blog lingo) keeps busy with lego, art, piano, school and basketball.  He approaches life in a cerebral methodical way.  Some things come more easily to him then others, but even where not naturally gifted he works hard for continual growth.

K is dynamic, energetic and social.  She has loved attending school and making new friends.  She loves being fancy and wearing dresses everyday to school.  In the spring K wrapped up her ballet/tap class and this fall she started piano and skating lessons.

I still work in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at HSC, part-time and mostly nights.  This summer was unusually busy and emotionally difficult at work, but a good reminder how blessed I am.  I still spend many hours at my sewing machine, I have more ideas than I have time.  This year was to be the one in which I used up my accumulating fabric stash.  While I did use already owned fabric or recycled clothing, I also bought lots of fabric too.

We are all involved in the life of St Margaret’s.  Lowell with the choir, L & K with the Advent Pageant and Christmas Eve Children’s choir.  I am on the Newcomer’s Committee and have challenged myself with writing the Prayers of the People.

Life is good, busy but good.  For further snapshots of our life together you are welcome to peruse earlier entries to our blog, perhaps it will inspire us to blog more often.

Thank you for your friendships and prayers.  May the Lord bless you and keep, may he make his face shine upon you.

Love Pam, (for Lowell, Pam, L and K)
